Meet Saba… our Talk English Tutor

The Talk English volunteering has been an invaluable and fantastic opportunity which allowed me to step confidently into the world of work. It enabled me to get a real hands on experience with not just teaching but also creating a fun and connected rapport with all my learners. I originally discovered this opportunity through a volunteering website and decided to apply as I was confident that I would be able to build further on my existing skills and acquire all the relevant knowledge needed to prepare me for future ESOL/TEFL teaching.

Prior to this, I already had a set of skills and knowledge which I gained through my educational experience. When I was offered this opportunity, I grabbed it without hesitancy and since then I have commended and supported the entire project and delivery.

It has been a major highlight in the last 2 years of my life as the experience has allowed me to enter paid work at the reputable Fircroft college. Not only was I thrilled to start a career in what I love to do, but I have also created some fantastic relationships with my students and work colleagues, who have been incredibly supportive and helpful. I am now working as an ESOL tutor, as well as continuing to volunteer for the project and completing my training in TEFL. I feel that through the Talk English opportunity, I have developed so many skills which have allowed me to flourish as a tutor and give me all the confidence I needed to pursue my career. I would recommend volunteering for this project to anyone who is willing to develop themselves in teaching and even those who are just seeking a new experience! Do it without any reluctance and you will discover a heap of benefits in return!
